Now, Katoomba is full of spectacular sights, but the ‘town walk’ is actually quite good, including the neighbouring station of Leura. Many people have moved here away from the big city, so there are lots of characteristic and attractive shops.

Katoomba is famous for its views of the Blue Mountains, which are in the vicinity. You can also read the article Incredible Experiences in the Blue Mountains.

Red Door Cafe

Red Door Cafe

Lula is a small town with a main street called ‘Leura Mall’. It has a fairy-tale atmosphere, as if you have returned to a fairyland.

Lula also has several cafés with good reputations. The Red Door Cafe is one of the most atmospheric.
As the name suggests, you can easily spot it because of its red door. Oops, there’s a cute customer!

A coffee break for a short break from walking around Lula. The green interior makes you feel at home.

Katoomba Vintage Emporium

Katoomba Vintage Emporium

Take a photo in front of this mural before leaving Lula. This popular photo spot is located in a back alley at the corner where the main streets ‘Lula Mall’ and Megalong Street meet. Just head for the retro-looking ‘The Candy Store’ and you’ll soon find it.
Next, go on a city tour of Katoomba, the heart of the Blue Mountains. As you walk around, you will realise that it is actually an artistic town.
There is wonderful art hidden in the small alleys and back alleys. Try to find your favourites.
Speaking of ‘finding your favourites’, you can’t miss this place in Katoomba.
The Katoomba Vintage Emporium is an antique shop.

It may look like junk at first glance, but if you look hard enough you might find a bargain.
The atmosphere is like that of a Paris flea market!
There are lots of cute knick-knacks. It’s great to find something one-of-a-kind.

Josophan's Fine Chocolates

Josophan's Fine Chocolates

And if you come to Lula, you must stop by Josophan’s Fine Chocolates. The shop looks like a converted church.
There is also an affiliated ice cream shop next door.
Made in their own factory in the Blue Mountains, their fine chocolates are additive-free, with no artificial sweeteners or preservatives. The chocolates are based on Callebaut, the finest Belgian chocolate used by chocolatiers (chocolate confectioners) around the world, and are available in small boxes of four.

Incidentally, the second chocolate from the left in the photo below is Mayan Chilli, which contains chilli. While the milk chocolate is sweet, it is also dozens of times hotter than you might imagine! It was a unique chocolate with a real chilli kick.

There are also famous cafés and trendy bakeries. If you get a little tired after all that sightseeing, drop in for a rest.
Small shops are found in the small towns of the Blue Mountains. A chance encounter with a handmade chocolate shop or a casual moment in a cosy café loved by the locals will leave you with fond memories. It is also one of the small but ‘emotional experiences that will last a lifetime’.
