Itinerary
Experience one of Darwin’s most famous tourist attractions, a half-day Jumping Croc Cruise on the Adelaide River. Here, you can observe some of the world’s most dangerous and aggressive predators in their natural habitat.
From Darwin city, we travel southeast for about 60km to reach the Marrakai wetlands, known for their diverse range of native birds and reptiles, including saltwater crocodiles.
The Top End of Australia is inhabited by over 100,000 saltwater crocodiles, mainly in and around Darwin, Mary River, and the Adelaide River region. Therefore, visitors are likely to encounter a significant number of crocodiles throughout the day in the naturally occurring waterways of the Northern Territory.
The saltwater crocodile is the largest reptile in the world. Additionally, it is considered one of the oldest living creatures, with a history dating back to the dinosaur age. These creatures can grow up to 6 meters long and weigh 1000kg. A famous local crocodile called ‘Sweetheart’ was captured near the Adelaide River. Sweetheart had a habit of chewing motors off fisherman’s boats and stealing cows from farmers. Sadly, Sweetheart passed away in 1979 but has been preserved in the Darwin Museum.
Our staff have Wildlife Permits issued by National Parks and Wildlife to ensure the safety of animals during our interactions with them.
